I want to share a section that was cut from the first draft of my recent essay on Nicholson Baker. I love this scene, and it was intended to show the ways that seemingly disparate things can be wonderfully connected, but (somewhat ironically) it didn’t connect with the rest of the essay. Rather than banish it to the wastelands of the desktop bin, I thought I’d give my paying subscribers a look behind the scenes.
